Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In cases of discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Alness Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, with age restrictions varying by vehicle type. A valid full driving licence relevant to the chosen vehicle category, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement, is required. Additionally, drivers must present valid identification, proof of residence, and provide payment details along with a security deposit. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Alness office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. Prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, allowing for normal wear associated with typical use. Any new damage identified will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may lead to additional charges, so please contact us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic infractions, or charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability, so reviewing these is beneficial. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicles
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or other risky driving behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is a violation. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not intended for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or operating outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Alness is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Governing Law in Alness
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
